Niko Turns One

And he's loads of fun.

The day before Niko's first birthday he decided to walk. Here he is. We just love our little bug and can't imagine our family without him. Hard to imagine just a year ago he wasn't (actively) a part of our lives. He brings so much love and silliness to our world.

Here he is taking some of his first steps.

Grandma Ann visits

We had a blast visiting with Grandma. Niko was happy to meet his grandma for the first time and Kobe loved goofing around with her. We played lots of games and ran around the park and Kobe, Dad and Grandma made a special trip to Coldstones for ice cream. It was sad saying goodbye. We had such a wonderful time. Can't wait for the next visit.

For Kobe's birthday we invited the neighbors over. Cole and Charlie are Kobe's two favorite people here in Olympia. They live just two houses down. Kobe had a blast with them.

The day before we went on a historic train ride up toward Mt. Rainer. It was a beautiful ride. Almost didn't make it to the train on time, however. Kobe threw up his breakfast. Not sure why. Perhaps the road was too windy.

For Father's Day we all went to an air show. Earlier that day Noah shaved his head. Kobe wanted to help out.

Father and Son Reunion

Niko loves strumming on the guitar and banging on drums (following after unc theo). He especially likes dad's guitar and his big brother's (although Kobe usually proceeds to yank it away if so inclined). We have loads of good stuff to upload, Kobe just turned 3 and told us last night."i love mommy, daddy, baby" and of course it made our hearts melt. The boys keep getting more and more fun and beautiful. Will add more soon.

Procession of the Species

We were so happy to be here for Olympia's annual Procession of the Species. This is their 15th year. Niko's first parade and Kobe's second. This one will be hard to top. It was unforgettable and full of spirit. The procession doesn't allow for anything motorized, no words, etc. etc. (www.procession.org). You may have one in your town now, if so, it all started here.

Headed downtown. You can see the capitol in the background. Over the bridge, down by the bay...

The sidewalks were covered in chalk drawings by kids and adults. Incredible!

Finally, here it comes!

This fish could wag its tail. Wonder if the seal (in the bay) that poked its head out at us on the way back to the car heard there was a big fish in the nearby area?

Kobe has been giving high fives to big, furry animals since the moose mascot incident last summer.

Here he is again. He even ran out there by himself!

The grand finale was a samba group dressed as zebras. Everyone was high from the event at the end and Kobe seemed mesmerized by the whole thing. Can't wait for next year!

Fur Rondy

Its been two months but I am finally adding photos from Anchorage's Fur Rondy. Kobe attended his first parade and was mesmerized. It was very cold (not surprising, I know) but we did get some fresh snow so the kids had a a ball.
